Providing good quality housing is not enough. We want to help our local communities grow strong. That’s why we have supported and encouraged our residents with a number of projects.
Skills Zone
We want to ensure residents involved in groups and associations have the necessary skills to represent their communities. That’s why we have developed a comprehensive training programme for residents.
There are four themes to our training programme:
-
Residents' organisations and panels
-
Giving residents skills for future employment
-
Community training
-
Helping residents to get involved
The training on offer takes many forms and includes:
-
in-house and external training
-
attending seminars and conferences
-
accredited training which can lead to a nationally recognised qualification.
There are a number of things we can do to help you attend training courses, such as:
-
providing transport for residents
-
paying child minding expenses
-
providing carers’ expenses.

Gardening club
Created a gardening club with more than 50 resident members. It has been so successful that the club won a bronze medal in a BBC Gardeners World Live competition.
Our garden club is for residents with communal grounds and no garden of their own. If you have green fingers or would like to get involved, contact Deborah Beckford on 020 8359 5307 or email.
BITE club
If you prefer surfing (the net that is…) why not dip into our IT club? Barnet Homes has set up the BITE Club for our sheltered housing residents. You can learn useful things like how to shop online, and send emails to your family and friends.
