Planned Maintenance

In consultation with residents we have identified and prioritised 37 pieces of planned works to our estates to ensure adequate health and safety and a pleasant living environment. The work plans are as follows:

• Improved lighting
• Rotary lines
• Marked parking bays
• Resurfacing to a car park, footpaths and paving
• Fencing to prevent antisocial behavior
• Drainage works
• Flooring to communal areas of flats
• Unused bins enclosed
• Re-development of unused play area at Lower Fosters
• Fitting of handrails to help residents get into their homes.
• Extended dustbin areas 
• Hatched lines in garage areas to alleviate parking obstructions
• Some asbestos work to garage roofs

This programme will cost Barnet Homes approximately £160,000

Lift Renewals

As part of our planned maintenance programme under our current contract, we have so far refurbished six lifts in Prospect Ring and Norfolk Close at a cost of £600,000.

Redecorations Programme

Currently we are reviewing our Planned Cyclical redecorations programme with a view to ensuring that we continue to keep our stock in good repair after the decent homes programme is completed. In the meantime our decent homes partners are carrying out a considerable part of this programme when they are on site with their external decent homes work. Where it has not been cost-effective to have our current partners carry out this work we are reviewing and prioritising these locations prior to the new programmes being implemented post decent homes

And finally planned this financial year we will be implementing our estates work strategy, with clear programmes of work from March 2008.

Digital Switchover

Over the next five years, there is going to be major changes to how the television network is broadcast within the United Kingdom. By 2012, all television programmes will be broadcast in a new way, called DIGITAL.
