Accessibility

We are committed to making our website as accessible as possible. Here we list some of the features that we have used to make it easier to view and to use.

We aim to ensure that the website conforms to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative’s “Double-A” standard, and continually update the site to improve usability.

Features include:

Picture tags

Pictures carry labels describing pictures and graphic images on the pages.

Descriptive link names

Links that take you to another part of the page, to a new page or to another site are labelled to describe what kind of content they will connect to.

Increasing the text size

This is possible by clicking on the text size symbols which can be founded on the top toolbar over on the right hand side of all pages.

Changing text size with your mouse

If you have a mouse with a wheel, you can make the text larger or smaller by holding down the CTRL key while you turn the wheel on your mouse.

Structure and navigation

We aim to provide a consistent structure throughout the website, so users will know exactly where to find information.

Our website includes a:

• top bar – displays our logo and access to each section of our website – you can access these from every page within the website
• left panel – details more specific information about each section. Clicking a top bar link takes you to a section page and the left panel shows the sub categories of information in this section
• content area – the main part of the website where you can read the information you have selected
• right panel – provides direct access to a number of relevant page options.

Tab indexing

We have included tab indexing on our website, which makes tabbing through our site easier.  It also helps users who access the website using only a keyboard.
